Job Summary
The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation seeks a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered School Counselor to join our Catholic school community. The School Counselor supports the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of students while fostering a safe, caring, and faith-filled learning environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that serves students across all grade levels.
- Teach classroom guidance lessons focused on social-emotional learning, character development, conflict resolution, and personal responsibility.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify and support students experiencing academic, behavioral, or emotional challenges.
- Partner with parents and guardians to support student success and well-being.
- Assist with crisis intervention and provide appropriate support during student or family emergencies.
- Make referrals to community agencies and mental health providers when appropriate.
- Participate in student support meetings and collaborate with intervention teams.
- Maintain accurate, confidential student records in accordance with professional and legal standards.
- Promote a positive school climate that reflects Catholic values of compassion, respect, dignity, and service.
- Support school-wide initiatives that foster student wellness and character development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
Job Requirements
- Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Appropriate state certification or licensure as required.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, social-emotional learning, and evidence-based counseling practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while exercising sound professional judgment.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with faculty, families, and administration.
