School Bus Driver - Springfield

About the role

As a First Student Part Time School Bus Driver you will play a vital role in your community and the lives of the students you transport. You will be there at the start of the students' day with before-school pickup and at the end with an afternoon shift to bring students safely back home. No experience as a bus driver is required! We're proud to train you with our industry-leading technology to help you succeed.

Responsibilities

• Operate a split shift: early morning before-school pickup and after-school drop-off with a few free hours in between
• Transport students safely to and from school on assigned routes
• Complete a guaranteed shift of 4 hours per school day
• Perform additional trips and charters when available for extra hours

Schedule

• Split shift (morning and afternoon)
• Guaranteed 4 hours per school day
• No nights or weekends unless you choose to work them
• Additional hours available through trips and charters

Benefits

• Starting wage: $18.00/hour (based on school bus driver experience)
• Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) Bonus:
  • $750.00 if CLP presented within 7 days of completing Virtual CLP class
  • $250.00 if CLP presented within 14 days of completing Virtual CLP class

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old
• Valid driver's license for at least 3 years
• English proficiency required (federal, state, and local regulations require all training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and job-related communications be conducted in English)
• Must pass DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason)
• No college degree or high school diploma required
• Military experience welcomed
• Open to candidates returning to the workforce, seeking a second job, retirees, or those jump-starting a new career
