About the role

Assist in the planning, scheduling, and dispatching of bus runs to ensure district pupils are safely and efficiently transported; substitute for school bus driver if necessary; keep required records; and perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision: Receive general supervision from the Transportation Operation Supervisor. May provide technical guidance to school bus drivers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all daily bus routes are covered
• Assign substitute drivers and routes as needed
• Book and estimate costs for field trips
• Assign drivers to field trips
• Maintain accurate records relating to transportation activities
• Assist in providing training at school sites for bus evacuation drills
• Assist in planning and updating fall bus routes to accommodate shifts in student population
• Serve as substitute driver when needed
• Perform check-out of bus safety equipment
• Act as liaison between the Department of Transportation and school sites, relaying complaints, problems, or concerns
