School Bus Driver
Responsibilities
- Vehicle Operation & Safety
- Operate school vehicles safely and efficiently
- Strictly adhere to all traffic laws, transit regulations, and school policies
- Maintain a safe environment while the vehicle is in motion
- Navigate assigned routes with precision
- Ensure students enter and exit only at designated stops
- Maintain order on the vehicle
- Enforce rules of conduct and explain safety procedures to passengers as needed
- Maintenance & Compliance
- Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct daily safety checks (tires, lights, oil, fluid levels)
- Report any mechanical issues to the manager immediately
- Cleanliness: Maintain a "broom clean" interior daily
- Ensure vehicles are free of debris and garbage
- Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and fuel for each run
- Communication & Logistics
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, faculty, and staff
- Proactively report delays, route issues, or emergencies to management
- Perform test runs of new or adjusted routes to ensure confidence and safety prior to transporting students
- Education & Experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Licensing & Certifications
- CDL Class B: Commercial Driver’s License
- Endorsements: Passenger (P) endorsement, the School Bus (S) endorsement, and the removal of the Air Brake (L) restriction
- CPR/AED certification preferred
- Compliance & Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit for extended periods
- Willingness to submit to background checks and random drug screenings
- Consent to confidential DMV/MVR record monitoring

Position Overview
Reporting To: Director of Facilities
Compensation: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour
Schedule: Daily runs, with additional opportunities for field trips, shuttle bus runs, and special events.
