School Bus Driver 2026-2027 School Year

Responsibilities

• Transport students safely to and from school.
• Check the operating condition of the bus before starting on a trip and after.
• Report any mechanical defects to the immediate supervisor.
• Instruct or inform students about safety practices when entering and leaving the bus.
• Maintain orderly conduct of students on the bus.
• Work a full-time position with a guaranteed six hours per day.
• Report every day school is in session, with the same route daily.
• Be eligible to sign up for extra work.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Class B license with P and S endorsement, issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles at the time of appointment.
• Have a clean driving and criminal history.
• Be able to pass a physical and drug screen.
• Be required to pass a physical performance test.
• Commitment to safety and dependability.

Pay

• Paid Training Rate: $18.49/hour (as a bus assistant).
• Substitute Part-Time Salary: $25.34/hour (variable schedule and flexible hours).
• Full-Time Salary: Starting at $26.45/hour (guaranteed six hours per day).

Schedule

Full-time positions with a guaranteed six hours per day, reporting every day school is in session with the same route daily.
