School Based Therapist

About the role

GCBHS is seeking a licensed Social Worker (Ohio LSW or LISW) or Counselor (Ohio LPCC) to serve as a School‑Based Therapist at St. Bernard Elementary School. The therapist will provide mental‑health therapy, case management, and group services to children and families, helping students achieve better academic performance and supporting healthier communities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mental‑health therapy services to children and families in a school‑based setting.
• Connect with principals, teachers, students, and parents to develop rapport and trust.
• Manage and grow a caseload of students and families.
• Provide counseling to families after school hours as needed.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams and collaborate on student care plans.
• Incorporate trauma‑informed care principles, cultural sensitivity, and a safe, respectful environment into all services.

Requirements

• MSW or MA in Counseling.
• Ohio LSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC licensure (or eligibility).
• Prior experience working with children and families through employment or internships.
• Flexibility to navigate school politics and collaborate with school staff.
• Availability to counsel families after school hours.
• Experience or training in trauma‑informed care and trauma treatment is valued.
