School-Based Prevention Specialist (Grades 6–12)
Rose Brooks Center, a non-profit domestic violence agency, seeks a full-time, exempt Prevention Specialist, reporting to the Director of Prevention.
About the role
The Prevention Specialist provides violence prevention services in middle and high school classrooms throughout Jackson County, Missouri, with a primary focus on facilitating student groups for students in Grades 6-12. Prevention Specialists teach resiliency skills and emotional regulation while working closely with Project SAFE staff, school personnel, and students.
Additional responsibilities include developing and enhancing program curriculum independently and collaboratively, maintaining accurate and timely program records, and client outcome reports.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate violence prevention services in middle and high school classrooms
- Lead student groups for Grades 6-12, teaching resiliency skills and emotional regulation
- Collaborate with Project SAFE staff, school personnel, and students
- Develop and enhance program curriculum independently and collaboratively
- Maintain accurate and timely program records and client outcome reports
- Perform all job responsibilities while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures
- Participate in required and optional trainings as determined
- Attend scheduled staff, team, and supervision meetings
Requirements
- Experience working with youth
- Experience facilitating discussion or educational groups
- Computer literacy
- Proven organizational skills
- Effective team member in collaboration and cooperation
- Experience in developing and maintaining strong relationships
- Able to maintain accurate, timely documentation of services
- Valid driver’s license and proof of liability auto insurance
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Experience with prevention programs and working with school administration
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, education, or related field
- Knowledge of domestic violence
- Bilingual Spanish/English
Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled Monday through Friday and requires a minimum of 40 hours/wk. The position works primarily in the schools but also works on-site in an office environment. Some evening and weekend availability may be required.
Pay
This position falls into a range starting at $48,000 annually (exempt).
