Bethany for Children & Families in Davenport, Iowa is seeking an energetic, self-motivated School-Based Mental Health Therapist to join our Behavioral Health team full time for the 2026-2027 school year. This role operates within assigned primary or secondary schools, offering a 9.5-month work schedule aligned with the school-year calendar. Salary is paid out over 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical therapy for a caseload referred from schools, medical providers, the Iowa Department of Human Services, and other community sources.
  • Ensure informed consent for mental health treatment, including legal documents and releases per agency policies.
  • Conduct mental health evaluations to establish medical necessity, diagnosis, and client needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor client treatment plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions aligned with treatment plans and medical necessity.
  • Document service delivery, maintain clinical records, and file required reports in compliance with agency, legal, and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate services through collaboration with families, schools, case managers, hospitals, and community resources.
  • Ensure continuity of care by managing clinical risk factors and transitions (admission/discharge).
  • Complete discharge summaries per agency policy.
  • Meet regularly with a clinical supervisor for oversight, direction, and case review.
  • Participate in required agency training and staff development.
  • Provide training and consultation to staff and colleagues as requested.
  • Maintain positive relationships with agency, funding, and referral sources.
  • Comply with licensing, accreditation, and legal requirements.
  • Uphold ethical practices and professional integrity in alignment with the agency’s compliance program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related mental health field (e.g., psychology, counseling, psychiatric nursing).
  • Eligibility for licensure in Iowa; supervision toward independent licensure may be provided at no cost.
  • Valid driver’s license, agency vehicle operation qualifications, and acceptable auto insurance.
  • Successful completion of background checks and exclusionary screenings as required by state/federal law.

Qualifications

Therapist I

  • Current, unrestricted initial license in Iowa (tLMHC, LMSW, LPC, LSW).

Therapist II

  • Current, unrestricted independent license in Iowa (LISW, LMHC, LCPC, LCSW).

Skills

  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Word, Excel) and ability to learn additional software.
  • Physical capability to attend to children experiencing difficulties.

Pay

Salary range: $41,800 to $53,800 (9.5-month salary paid over 12 months), based on licensure.
