Mental Health Therapist (School-Based)

About the Role

Morrison Child and Family Services is a Joint Commission and Sanctuary accredited non-profit organization providing comprehensive services to children, adolescents, and their families. This school-based therapist role is a 10-month position following Portland Public Schools (PPS) Academic Calendar, providing mental health services to PPS students onsite at two PPS schools (currently hiring for Whitman & Woodmere Elementary Schools). In-house licensure supervision is provided for LCSW, LPC & LMFT.

Responsibilities

• Provides mental health services for students and their families: assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual, and family therapy
• Provides case management, crisis support, safety planning, coordination of care, referrals to ancillary and/or specialty services, and group therapy, as needed
• Completes all clinical documentation in accordance with state, federal and organizational requirements, emphasizing collaborative documentation
• Abides by the appropriate code of ethics and follows all Morrison's policies and procedures
• Is present and punctual for work, supervision, and/or meetings
• Works well within a team environment, sharing workload, credit, and opportunities
• Completes other duties as assigned to ensure successful operation of program or department
• Demonstrates a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices; participates in staff development, in-services, and training related to workplace effectiveness
• Is aware of Morrison Compliance Program including Compliance Officer, Compliance Standards of Conduct, and Employee Compliance Hotline; completes all assigned compliance, HIPAA, client privacy, and fraud, waste, and abuse training

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field
• Experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health, social services, educational, or other related setting
• Pass a DHS (Department of Human Services) criminal history background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish, both written and spoken (must clear a language proficiency test)
• Current Oregon or other state behavioral health license
• Two years direct treatment experience with children and/or adolescents in a mental health setting

• Crisis Intervention and Management: Demonstrates sufficient knowledge to support clients experiencing a mental health crisis including de-escalation techniques and facilitating access to appropriate crisis services
• Mandatory Reporting: Understands and complies with mandatory reporting requirements with developmentally appropriate and trauma informed approach

Pay

• Unlicensed: $32.37/hr. - $35.63/hr. ($67,300/yr. - $74,000/yr.)
• Unlicensed Bilingual Spanish: $35.23/hr. - $38.77/hr. ($73,200/yr. - $80,600/yr.)
• Licensed: $34.31/hr. - $37.77/hr. ($71,300/yr. - $78,500/yr.)

Working Conditions

• Environment: Work is done in clinical offices, community settings, including Morrison Residential, administration buildings, public locations, and social service sites. Breaks and meals are subject to interruption.
