School Aide/Cafeteria Monitor (Barclay) - Anticipated
About the role
This is a routine aide position in which the incumbent assists in a variety of tasks involved in the execution of the day-to-day operations of a school building. The focus of this class is on simple clerical and monitoring tasks, rather than assisting teachers with classroom-related activities.
The employee reports directly to, and works under the direct supervision of, a professional staff member. The work schedule is 3.25 hours per day (10:45 AM - 2:00 PM) for 10 months, with time off during school breaks.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a monitor in study halls, corridors, libraries, lavatories, resource centers and cafeterias
- Monitors cafeteria and playground environments
- Collaborates with colleagues to facilitate school-wide expectations in these environments
Requirements
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions
- Ability to give instructions
- Ability to work well with students and school personnel
- Ability to maintain simple records
- Patience, dependability, good judgment, and tact
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
There are no education or experience qualifications for this position, but the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and work collaboratively with peers and colleagues is required.

Pay
The minimum pay rate is $17.00 per hour.
