Join the Sage YMCA and make a difference in your community as a full-time School Aged Program Manager. This role oversees the daily operations of all school-aged programs, youth enrichment initiatives, and summer day camp, ensuring high-quality programming that meets community needs and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Member and Program Experience
    • Increase member and participant connection to YMCA programs to drive engagement, retention, and alignment with organizational goals.
    • Address inquiries from members and prospective members, adapting tools and processes to enhance their experience.
    • Monitor program registration trends and customize offerings to meet community needs.
    • Collaborate with peers and leaders to promote programs through community events and multiple channels.
    • Coordinate with membership teams to ensure accurate and timely transactions, including collections and refunds.
    • Participate in direct service as needed to support program operations.
    • Work with other center teams to maintain a high-quality member experience.
  • Team Management
    • Lead, manage, and motivate a high-performing team to achieve program objectives.
    • Set, monitor, and evaluate team goals and performance standards, providing coaching and development opportunities.
    • Mentor staff to deliver safe, engaging, and well-organized program services.
    • Conduct formal performance reviews and provide coaching or intervention as needed.
    • Hire, onboard, and train new staff, ensuring compliance with required certifications and trainings.
    • Facilitate staff meetings and in-services, and manage time and attendance in the HRIS system.
    • Recruit and train volunteers to support program needs.
  • Program Management
    • Manage program budgets, including forecasting revenue, expenses, and program margins to meet financial targets.
    • Oversee program guides, customer management systems, and online registration to market programs effectively.
    • Adhere to YMCA standards for safety, cleanliness, and a welcoming environment.
    • Identify, escalate, and address potential risks to ensure the safety and well-being of members, participants, and staff.
    • Support the YMCA’s mission and center operations as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Recreation Management, Education, or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in youth and family programming, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Meets credentialing requirements for DCFS licensing, where applicable.
  • Commitment to and passion for the YMCA of Metro Chicago’s mission.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals through team leadership or influence.
  • Strategic thinking skills, including planning, goal-setting, progress monitoring, and adaptability.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build relationships and manage expectations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and email; ability to learn new technology.
  • Meets physical qualifications outlined in the job description; reasonable accommodations available for persons with disabilities.
  • Willingness to register with the Gateways Registry and complete required online training for the designated program area.

Child Abuse Prevention

  • Report any health or safety hazards to your supervisor.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to child safety, including monitoring and supervision.
  • Report suspicious behavior or policy violations to your supervisor.
  • Complete all required child abuse prevention training.

Pay

Salary range for this position starts at $43,888 per year.
