About the Role
Catalyst teaching staff support the planning and implementation of Catalyst's programming for children ranging in age from infant to school age, depending on the location. Teachers must facilitate age-appropriate activities, support children's social-emotional development, and ensure a healthy and safe environment at all times.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum connected to children's interests, promoting positive child development.
- Design, implement, and maintain intentional, enriched, and supportive learning environments and quality experiences tailored to each age group.
- Provide excellent customer service by building authentic, reciprocal, and culturally responsive relationships with children, families, schools, communities, and colleagues.
- Ensure children's health and safety through proper supervision, positive interactions, healthy habits, and compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with fellow staff, integrating workplace values, education, and experience to deliver high-quality programs and creative workplaces.
Work Environment
- Maintain positive interactions with children and youth.

- Be punctual and consistently present.
- Engage actively in indoor and outdoor programs.
- Ensure physical and mental capability to interact with children up to 13 years old, meeting their needs and ensuring safety.
- Implement safety guidelines, report health and safety issues, and remain calm during emergencies.
Physical & Environmental Conditions
- Inspect environments for hazards and take preventive actions to ensure child safety.
- Tolerate occasional loud noise during activities.
- Perform frequent bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Handle objects up to 15 lbs., such as equipment carts, emergency packs, and classroom furnishings.
- Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Navigate different terrains and heights, depending on the outdoor environment.
- Adapt to children's physical levels for activities and interactions.
- Supervise field trips to destinations like aquatic parks, beaches, and trampoline parks.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- 24 postsecondary semester units (or equivalent) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field with grades of C- or better, plus 16 general education units.
- AA degree or higher in ECE, CD, or related field from a nationally accredited college.
- Teacher Permit or higher issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience & Skills:
- 2 years of experience in a group care environment for a consistent age group (preferred).
- 1 year of experience supervising adults (preferred).
- Effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, classroom management, and communication skills.
- Strong organization, time management, curriculum development, and assessment documentation abilities.
- Ability to maintain a professional team environment.
- Current adult and infant/child CPR & First Aid certification (preferred).
- Bilingual/multilingual skills based on center needs.
Schedule
Full Time: Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM
