Responsibilities

• Engage students in a progressive, competency-based and project-based learning model.
• Work closely with a teacher-advisor to tailor the school experience to meet individual needs and interests.
• Guide student work and projects in an open environment that mirrors the contemporary work world.
• Participate in year-long professional development to support and develop teaching through reflection and practice.
• Contribute to problem-solving protocols and become an expert, contributing member of the learning community.

Requirements

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification

• Passionate about transforming young people's lives through innovative school reform
• Believe all students can be inspired learners in the right environment
• Willingness to embrace the Small Schools Initiative with total building enrollments at 300 or less
• Experience with a competency-based and project-based learning model
• Ability to manage time and build independent and collaborative work skills

• Experience with technology integration in the classroom
