Job Responsibilities
- Work as part of the site team to ensure a safe and challenging environment for school age participants.
- Implement YMCA core values, gym and group games, and arts and crafts.
- Independently lead and supervise children in small and large group activities.
- Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
- Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants, and community members.
- Maintain confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents, and records.
- Be on time for all shifts; flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days.
- Provide leadership and support to Program Aides and Volunteers.
- Promote positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques to participants with natural consequences in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and expectations.
Requirements
- Age 18 years or older.
- Documentation of 480 hours of experience working directly with school-age children in areas such as Sunday school, Scouts, sports, or babysitting.
- CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained through the YMCA).
- Ability to work well on a team, communicate effectively with youth, parents, and colleagues, and be committed to high-quality programming.
Qualifications

Physical Demands/Functional Attributes
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- General Physical Requirements: Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, visual acuity, and working conditions.
