About the role

The School-Aged Education Coordinator ensures appropriate and effective academic programs are developed, implemented, and evaluated for members ages 6 to 12. This role advocates for club members by providing high-yield, targeted support in homework help, core content programming, and developmentally appropriate literacy and STEM programming. Additional responsibilities include overseeing program staff and managing the program budget.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the school-aged education program, including planning, implementation, staff supervision, budget management, and securing additional resources.
  • Develop, implement, and document year-round education programs, activities, and events aligned with Common Core State Standards, 21st Century Skills, and BGCB Education practices.
  • Collaborate with BGCB education staff and program partners to create and participate in joint programs and events.
  • Act as a liaison to build and maintain relationships with program partners and volunteers.
  • Participate in BGCB’s Formula for Impact: Academic Success Initiatives.
  • Stay informed about trends in education, including specific programming, career exploration, professional development, and curriculum design.
  • Monitor and coordinate an academic incentive and recognition program for the school-aged education department.
  • Supervise and discipline club members, ensuring a safe, clean, and academically enriching environment.
  • Support members at risk of failing a grade or dropping out of school.
  • Orient, train, and supervise education department staff, including work-study students, junior staff, and volunteers.
  • Provide annual performance evaluations for applicable staff in a timely manner.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including trainings, team meetings, coaching sessions, and observations.
  • Maintain a high level of professional communication both internally and externally.
  • Travel between sites and to activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1-2 years of direct experience developing and delivering youth programs.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of trends in school-aged education, including programming, professional development, and curriculum design.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and web-based tools.
  • Ability to work with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • Flexibility to work clubhouse hours, especially as seasons and service needs change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in out-of-school time settings.
  • 3-5 years of direct experience and 2-4 years of supervisory experience.

Position open until filled, with a desired start date of September 2026.

Location

Roxbury, MA (Yawkey Boys & Girls Club of Roxbury).

Pay

Salary range: $58,349/year - $65,993/year, commensurate with experience.
