About the Role

As an Assistant Teacher at one of our childcare locations, you will assist the Child Care Program Director in providing a positive and enriching experience for all children. You will act as a role model, supervise and guide children, and maintain a welcoming and organized classroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the enrollment of new children and facilitate onboarding for children and parents.
  • Maintain daily communication with parents to build rapport and trust.
  • Help implement lesson plans based on child development principles.
  • Keep the classroom clean, organized, and compliant with YMCA standards and government regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date classroom records.
  • Provide proper supervision and discipline for children while acting as a positive role model.
  • Attend and participate in family events and program activities.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in Secondary Education or 2,500 hours of documented experience (e.g., babysitting).
  • Ability to pass a background check and physical.
  • Negative TB test.
  • Must enroll in a CDA (Child Development Associate) training program within the first year of employment if not already attending or having completed secondary education.
  • Love for children and a basic understanding of child development and teaching strategies.
  • Patience and ability to remain calm under stress.

Pay

$10.98 - $13.73/hour, negotiable based on experience and educational credentials.

Schedule

25-30 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
