Scheduling Coordinator

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments according to physician orders.
• Cancel appointments as directed and complete appropriate patient follow-up.
• Review patient medical records and orders prior to upcoming appointments to ensure orders are valid, future appointments are scheduled, and overbooking has not occurred.
• Update schedules as changes occur and follow up with any identified deficiencies in the scheduling process.
• Document timely and accurately in the EMR system.
• Cookordinate patient care with multi-disciplinary teams, including pharmacy, insurance, and third-party entities.
• Communicate new patient appointments with referral sources.
• Complete follow-up tasks as assigned.
• Assure work is completed in a timely manner to prevent delays in patient care.
• Attend departmental meetings and in-services as requested.
• Assist with the orientation and training of staff.

Required Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in medical insurance verification, patient scheduling, as a Medical Assistant, or other healthcare environment required.
• Two years of medical office experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be organized and work well under fast-paced conditions.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, twisting, talking, and hearing.
• Prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, and reading.
• Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds occasionally.
• Specific vision abilities required: reading, distance, computer, and color vision.
• Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors, and staff.
