Scheduling Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments according to physician orders.
- Cancel appointments as directed and complete appropriate patient follow-up.
- Review patient medical records and orders prior to upcoming appointments to ensure orders are valid, future appointments are scheduled, and overbooking has not occurred.
- Update schedules as changes occur and follow up with any identified deficiencies in the scheduling process.
- Document timely and accurately in the EMR system.
- Cookordinate patient care with multi-disciplinary teams, including pharmacy, insurance, and third-party entities.
- Communicate new patient appointments with referral sources.
- Complete follow-up tasks as assigned.
- Assure work is completed in a timely manner to prevent delays in patient care.
- Attend departmental meetings and in-services as requested.
- Assist with the orientation and training of staff.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in medical insurance verification, patient scheduling, as a Medical Assistant, or other healthcare environment required.
- Two years of medical office experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be organized and work well under fast-paced conditions.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, twisting, talking, and hearing.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, and reading.
- Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required: reading, distance, computer, and color vision.
- Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors, and staff.
