About the role
The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for the daily oversight of all scheduling and medical record functions conducted in Imaging Services. The Scheduler ensures accurate and complete scheduling of procedures and acquires supporting documentation needed prior to the exam. This role works directly with the imaging team, patients, and provider offices to obtain pertinent medical history, optimizing the patient experience by reducing delays and rescheduling. The position supports technologist workflow and organizational goals through quality customer service, performance improvement efforts, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily scheduling and medical record functions in Imaging Services.
- Ensure accurate and complete scheduling of procedures with all required documentation.
- Collaborate with imaging team, patients, and provider offices to gather medical history prior to exams.
- Optimize patient experience by minimizing delays and rescheduling.
- Support technologist workflow for assigned patient areas.
- Provide quality customer service and participate in performance improvement efforts.
- Demonstrate competencies as outlined in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of scheduling experience preferred; 3 years of experience in the medical field as a registrar, receptionist, or related role required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience with scheduling software (e.g., STAR, PowerChart, IRIS/Radnet).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at hire; required within 30-60 days of employment.
Work Environment
- Potential exposure to hazards of a hospital environment, including infectious diseases and hazardous substances.
- Primarily desk/telephone work with occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Reports to department leadership.
