Scheduler/ Staffing Coordinator
Newton Village, a Cassia community in Newton, IA, is seeking a compassionate and organized Scheduler/Staffing Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position where you’ll play a key role in ensuring our residents receive safe, high-quality care while also providing hands-on support on the floor.
About the Role
As a Scheduler/Staffing Coordinator at Newton Village, you will organize and maintain clinical department coverage, including the master schedule, daily staffing, and shift replacements. You’ll also spend part of your time providing direct resident care. This hybrid role requires strong organizational skills, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit.
Position Type: Full-time, benefits-eligible. Work approximately 15–20 hours per week in scheduling/staffing coordination, with remaining hours spent providing resident care and floor coverage.
Shifts Available: Day shift (6:00 am – 2:00 pm)
Location: 110 N 5th Ave W, Newton, IA 50208
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the nursing department schedule and ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
- Develop and maintain the master schedule, daily staffing schedule, and coordinate replacement coverage for open shifts.
- Interview candidates for open CNA and HHA positions.
- Track continuing education and required training programs for staff.
- Monitor attendance and complete disciplinary action documentation as needed.
- Provide hands-on resident care and floor coverage during scheduled hours, including assisting with activities of daily living and other CNA/CMA duties as applicable.
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff to ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and consistent care.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- 1–2 years prior staffing/scheduling experience required.
- CNA or CMA certification preferred.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including on-call hours.
- Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confidential information.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
