About the role
Schedules all procedures for the Executive Urology Program and surgeries at other hospitals where physicians have privileges. Obtains all pre-authorization and testing required to perform surgeries. Includes duties of a medical assistant, such as scribing, patient care, maintaining records, and preparing forms for billing and prior authorization of medications.
Responsibilities
- Maintains knowledge of operative software and maintenance routines.
- Schedules all elective surgical procedures and promotes a positive, professional image.
- Ensures effective and efficient OR scheduling and utilization.
- Attends required safety training programs and follows exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
- Participates in monitoring and evaluating the operative information system for quality control.
- Accurately identifies and resolves problems affecting service with follow-through and communication.
- Prepares and distributes surgery schedules, operates computer terminals, and schedules appointments requiring prior authorization.
- Maintains prior authorization lists to ensure approval before patient arrival.
- Assists physicians with patient care, including vital signs, EKGs, pain assessments, and reviewing H&P and MAR.
- Schedules patient visits, assists with charts, and stocks supplies.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care.
- Practices effective communication and maintains accountability in professional practice.
- Conducts work activities with respect for patient rights and a pleasant environment.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a high school education with working knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Minimum of one year of scheduling experience and proficiency with PC input/typing.
- Certified Medical Assistant or LPN preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and record information accurately.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patient age groups served.

Full-time position.

- Sit: 1-2 hours
