Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in theater or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Two years of theater scenery construction and operations experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Understanding of set and lighting design and drafting of scenery which requires the use of various hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Serves as Technical Director for assigned productions.
- Plans, coordinates, designs, and supervises the technical production elements for Theatre USA productions.
- Designs scenery, lighting, and/or sound as needed.
- Supervises and mentors student designers, technicians, and shop workers in accordance with the Department of Drama and Theatre Arts technical theatre curriculum.
- Assists in the design, construction, installation, operation, and strike of production elements.
- Manages production workloads to ensure successful completion within the department’s six-week production schedule.
- Maintains production budgets.
- Maintains inventories and orders materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensures compliance with university and industry safety standards within all theatre and shop spaces.
- Coordinates production activities with faculty, staff, guest artists, and student crews.
- Maintains production documentation.
- Performs other production duties as assigned by the Department Chair or supervisor.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime hours as required.
Position is full-time, temporary, and located on the main campus.
