Scalehouse Operator
About the role
The Prince William County Public Works, Solid Waste Division is seeking to hire a full-time Scalehouse Operator/Fiscal Assistant to join their team in providing excellent customer service at the County's Landfill or Compost Facility in Manassas, Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Assess and collect fees accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced operational environment using basic math skills and knowledge of proper cash handling procedures;
- Perform accurate data entry into the scale software system;
- Reconcile receipts at the end of each shift;
- Prepare deposits and other documentation in accordance with policies and procedures;
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, including the ability to maintain composure and tact when faced with difficult people or situations;
- Adhere to established rules, regulations, and procedures and clearly communicate requirements to the public.
Requirements
- An 8th-grade education is required.
- No prior work experience is necessary for this role.
- A high school diploma is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience with direct cash handling and computer-based data entry is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of front-line customer service experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a high-school diploma and at least two years of full-time experience with cash handling and front-line customer service.
Skills
Basic math skills, knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, and excellent customer service skills are essential.

Pay
Starting Salary Range: $24.89 to $30.34 hourly.
