Scale Operator - Seasonal
About the Role
Scoular is seeking a motivated Scale Operator to join our team and contribute to our mission of creating safe and reliable supply chain solutions for our customers. This is a seasonal position lasting through our harvest cycle in mid-September that has the possibility to transition to full-time. We are a team-oriented workplace that motivates hard-working individuals who can adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
- Receive, weigh, and test grain delivered to the facility while providing superior customer service to the Producers/Drivers.
- Weigh all trucks coming into and leaving the facility and direct trucks to the proper location for loading and unloading.
- Communicate with the production crew to ensure timely unloading of trucks.
- Probe all inbound trucks to collect commodity samples and enter all customer and commodity information into the tracking system.
- Perform housekeeping duties to keep the office area and scale room clean and presentable.
- Greet customers and visitors (both in person and via telephone) in a professional and courteous manner and direct them to the appropriate individual if necessary.
- Other duties as needed to support operations.
On-the-job training provided.
Requirements
- Strong customer service skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Dependable attendance.
- Flexibility to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat (90-120°F), cold (subzero), and high winds (40+ mph).
- Must be able to remain standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work in an environment with high levels of grain dust.
- Must be able to bend and reach within normal range of movement.
