Scale House Operator

About the role

Join Pratt Paper, a leader in the sustainable recycling and packaging industry, as a Scale House Operator in our Recycling division. You'll serve as the nerve center for inbound and outbound traffic, ensuring seamless and compliant material flow while acting as the first point of contact for drivers and the gatekeeper of inventory data.

Responsibilities

• Traffic Management: Coordinate all truck traffic, managing inbound and outbound loads to prevent delays and maintain smooth operations.
• Data & Logistics Gatekeeper: Accurately enter incoming load data for recycling materials, issue drop tickets, log receiving details, and communicate release numbers, rejections, and notifications (e.g., chemical loads) to drivers and management.
• Operational Oversight: Monitor dock availability using camera systems and proactively communicate with the yard to ensure a constant flow of materials.
• Team Communication: Serve as the radio contact for the Reject Yard and maintain clear communication with managers on operational issues or critical load details.
• Scale House Stewardship: Keep the scale house organized and fully stocked with necessary tools and resources.

Requirements

• Tech Savvy: Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word; 10-Key data entry experience is a plus.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to interpret instructions (written, oral, or diagram) and solve practical problems.
• Math Aptitude: Strong numerical reasoning, including calculating percentages, proportions, and volume.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written English skills for clear driver and team communication.

Qualifications

A post-secondary degree (Associate's, Bachelor's, or Technical School certification) is preferred, but equivalent experience in logistics, data entry, or high-volume coordination roles is valued.

Pay

Base salary of $37,668.00 annually, with earnings reaching $51,794.00 including built-in overtime and a monthly incentive.

Schedule

4-shift rotational schedule covering 24/7 operations, including 12-hour shifts.

Work Environment

Fast-paced, high-energy environment with frequent walking, talking, and use of hands for keying/handling. Exposure to loud noise, wet/humid conditions, and airborne particles typical of a recycling facility.
