Scale House Operator

Essential Job Summary

The Scale Operator will be mainly responsible for weighing in and weight out solid waste vehicles from both company drivers and third-party vendors/haulers. They will oversee receiving payments, checking loads, and always ensuring the safety of the landfill and scale.

Essential Job Functions

• Serve as first point of contact for any drivers, customers, or other traffic at the scale house
• Accurately calculate and process payments, weights and other measurements
• Verify incoming loads do not contain any unnecessary or inappropriate material
• Variety of administrative tasks including regular filing, data entry and reporting
• Provide general upkeep of the scale house
• Additional duties as assigned

Outbound Materials Schedule

• Hourly outbound material quantity verification
• Constant Communication and schedule update with End markets and haulers

Work Environment

• Daily exposure to physical environment including odors, loud noises, weather elements, etc.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States
• High school/GED education completed; higher education is a plus
• Minimum 2 years of warehouse environment experience
• Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred
• Experience working with scales is strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of general computer skills
• Consistently capable of working independently to safely analyze and resolve problems
• Fluency in English required, Spanish bilingual is a plus
