Essential Job Summary
The Scale Operator will be mainly responsible for weighing in and weight out solid waste vehicles from both company drivers and third-party vendors/haulers. They will oversee receiving payments, checking loads, and always ensuring the safety of the landfill and scale.
Essential Job Functions
- Serve as first point of contact for any drivers, customers, or other traffic at the scale house
- Accurately calculate and process payments, weights and other measurements
- Verify incoming loads do not contain any unnecessary or inappropriate material
- Variety of administrative tasks including regular filing, data entry and reporting
- Provide general upkeep of the scale house
- Additional duties as assigned
Outbound Materials Schedule
- Hourly outbound material quantity verification
- Constant Communication and schedule update with End markets and haulers
Work Environment
- Daily exposure to physical environment including odors, loud noises, weather elements, etc.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States
- High school/GED education completed; higher education is a plus
- Minimum 2 years of warehouse environment experience
- Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred
- Experience working with scales is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of general computer skills
- Consistently capable of working independently to safely analyze and resolve problems
- Fluency in English required, Spanish bilingual is a plus
