About the role
This position will provide coverage at Vulcan facilities primarily throughout Northern Virginia as well as Maryland and Richmond, VA regions as needed, with a starting home base in Springfield, VA. The role requires operating truck scales to accurately weigh products prior to leaving company premises and managing daily cash sales and transactions.
Responsibilities
- Weigh and record incoming materials such as gasoline, diesel fuel, explosives, scrap sales, etc.
- Record weights accurately and legibly on weight tickets or other documentation
- Maintain cash fund accurately and report any discrepancies
- Operate truck scales and generate correct tickets for customers
- Resolve discrepancies in weights by recalibrating scales or reweighing materials
- Maintain and calibrate weighing equipment according to manufacturer's specifications
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing the weighing of materials
- Greet customers in a professional and polite manner
- Maintain the office in a neat and professional manner
- Clearly communicate with customers to bill transactions correctly
- Handle cash sales by collecting cash, checks, or credit card transactions
- Listen to customer issues and work to resolve them through communication with the sales/dispatch department
- Answer phones and handle office duties/projects as requested
- Prepare scales for daily use and troubleshoot issues with Plant Admin Support Supervisors
- Direct customers to piles and instruct load out personnel of customer needs
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2-4 years prior experience in a customer service role, preferably in an aggregate setting weighing materials
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong math skills
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to drivers and other customers
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Organizational skills with focus on prioritization of workload and attention to detail
- Detailed oriented, self-motivated, dependable, timely, and reliable
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of weighing equipment and procedures
- Proficient in software packages relevant to the position

Pay
The salary range for this role is between $56,000 - $67,000 annual salary ($27.00-$32.00 per hour), with eligibility for overtime. The salary range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.
