Scale Clerk- Office based

Description

The Scale Clerk is the first and last point of contact for customers and drivers at Harmon Scrap Metal. Key responsibilities include:

• Weigh all inbound and outbound loads using the scale system
• Enter customer info, material types, and weights into the system accurately
• Print and process scale tickets and receipts
• Direct drivers where to go and keep traffic moving safely
• Communicate with yard operators and office staff throughout the day
• Answer phones and help customers at the scale window
• Handle payments (if assigned) and balance transactions
• Keep paperwork organized and up to date
• Watch for discrepancies in loads or tickets and report issues
• Follow all safety rules and company procedures

Requirements

• Reliable and shows up on time
• Strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes hectic environment
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn our scale software
• Good communication skills
• Previous scale house, trucking, or scrap yard experience is a plus, but not required

Work Environment

You'll be working in a scale house with constant truck traffic. Expect noise, dust, and a lot of movement around you. This is not a quiet office job—things can get busy fast.

Schedule

Full-time position including early mornings and Saturdays.
