Scaffold Builder - Austin Industrial (Lugoff, SC)

About the role

This is a full-time maintenance job working 40 hours a week (4/10’s). There is no per diem and no relocation funding.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, assembles, maintains, and dismantles tubular scaffolding or other temporary structures.
• Determines type of scaffold needed.
• Inspects job site and all scaffold material for defects and safety hazards.
• Effectively communicates safety hazards and mitigates avoidable hazards prior to construction of scaffolding.
• Transports tubular scaffold or other structural material and erects the scaffold to the required dimensions.
• Hoists scaffolding materials upward to erect temporary structure.
• Properly secures and levels locking sections of scaffolding material.
• Properly secures scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
• Adheres to all OSHA, site-specific and Austin Industrial requirements for erecting and navigating the scaffolding.
• Performs final inspection of completed scaffolding.
• Dismantles scaffolding when properly communicated to do so.
• Inspects and properly stows scaffolding material after dismantling.

Requirements

• Must be a Journeyman Scaffold Builder with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment, including but not limited to: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire-resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions (including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting), use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, work at heights, and balance for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

• Education: No minimum education requirements.
• Experience: 3–5 years of experience in an industrial setting preferred.
