About the role

The Saw Helper assists the Die Forge, Stock Saw, and/or Hand Forge Cell departments, moving into various areas as needed. In the Stock Saw department, duties include operating titanium and aluminum band saws and the Friggi Saw. In the Hand Forge Cell, responsibilities involve material moving and identification. The role focuses on learning multiple aspects of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Follow direction from supervisors, lead personnel, or acting superiors.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment with a "clean as you go" policy.
  • Learn fundamentals of the saw process and assist with basic helper tasks, including:
    • Operating various saws, forklifts, manipulators, cranes, and lifting devices under supervision.
    • Layout work with or without templates, mathematics for cutting, and cutting to size.
    • Strapping pallets, steel stamping, and using vibro engraving machines.
    • Using and understanding measuring devices, tooling inspection, and blueprint reading.
    • Deburring and repairing parts, setting up saw procedures, and ensuring basic part compliance (size, defects).
    • Material handling, moving parts to designated areas, and packing/pre-packing when required.
    • Navigating through ERP systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Weber Metals’ Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Business Management System policies.
  • Work in a team environment to meet target dates.
  • Report to work on time with proper PPE and remain fully engaged for the entire shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • For Stock Saw only:
    • Measure and log preform weights and input stock for titanium products.
    • Maintain piece count of jobs sawed.
    • Create titanium mult charts.

Requirements

  • Comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements (US citizens or permanent residents only).
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 90-day introductory period.
  • Experience in the forging or metals industry is preferred.
