About the role

Weyerhaeuser, Plymouth Lumber mill located in Plymouth, NC, has an opening for a saw filer with industrial experience. Competitive wage and benefits package included.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety meetings and activities as determined by team and mill norms and standards
• Benching and fitting bandsaws
• Sharpening, tipping and benching round saws
• Honing and maintaining knives
• Pour babbit, maintenance of guides and maintaining guide plane
• Complete PMs for sawmill and saw shop machinery as required
• Participate in reliability task teams or activities as required
• Help coach apprentices/operators to learn saw filing trade and help with PMs

Qualifications

• All candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical background and aptitude
• Must pass Operations Level 2 aptitude test
• Two-years working experience as a band saw filer and/or two-years precision Millwright experience
• Knowledge of using precise measuring equipment, i.e., micrometers and dial indicators, etc.
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to work rotating shift schedules, weekends, and holidays as necessary
• Able to read, write and follow specific printed directions
• Ability to troubleshoot lumber for quality and size control
• Understanding of machine alignment procedures
