Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Swages, shapes, sharpens, levels and benches all saws for sawmill.
- Work closely with sawmill supervisor, maintenance and operations manager on quality and any sizing issues.
- Aligns band saw mill and carriage to assure quality sizing.
- Sharpens and prepares chipper knives
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
- Must have the ability read calipers, micrometers and other measuring devices.
- Must have strong troubleshooting capabilities.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Ability to analyze saw or alignment problems.
- Ability to work with saw steel to create proper tension in blades.
- Welding
- Cutting
- Metal fabrication
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Long periods of standing.
- Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. at times.
- Bending, twisting, walking, climbing, standing and reaching.
