About the role

Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Design, development, build, integration and checkout of the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) Vehicle Test Bed (VTB)
  • Define VTB requirements by working across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure VTB fidelity and interface definitions
  • Own the hardware and software architecture of the VTB, including real time simulation infrastructure, emulators, and Electronic Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
  • Drive selection and integration of real-time simulation platforms (e.g., Speedgoat, National Instruments, etc.)
  • Maintain configuration control of all VTB hardware, software, and models
  • Plan and Execution HWIL test campaigns supporting program milestones
  • Define VTB Test Procedures and Processes with a focus on automation
  • Career Development
  • Coordinate with flight software, systems engineering, and mission operations to ensure test coverage of nominal and fault scenarios
  • Track Open anomalies and drive closure with appropriate subsystem responsible Engineers
  • Manage a team of engineers and technicians to build and operate the VTB
  • Develop and maintain the VTB roadmap aligned with the vehicle development schedule
  • Communicate test bed status, risks, and milestone readiness to program leadership
  • Evaluate emerging simulation and emulation technologies for applicability to the test program
  • Integrate Radio Frequency (RF) stimulation and receive equipment into VTB, inclusive of signal generators, spectrum analyzers, channel emulators, and antenna simulators to support GPS/GNSS, telemetry, and RF communication subsystem testing

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware-in-the-loop, system level test, and/or vehicle integration and test
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex test campaigns with flight or flight-like hardware in a systems integration environment
  • Hands-on experience with real-time simulation platforms and hardware interface design (serial, discrete, analog, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, Ethernet, CAN, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of avionics architectures, flight software interfaces, and embedded systems
  • Prominent ability to lead technical teams and coordinate across disciplines in a fast-paced development environment
  • Proven ability to define test requirements and procedures from system level specifications
