SAP Basis & Support AMS

About the role

SAP Basis team is seeking enthusiastic System Administrators who will play a key role in the implementation, optimization, migration, and maintenance of SAP Product Suites running on ABAP, Java, BO, Cloud stacks and other technologies. You will be part of the Basis Engineering Team and will have complete ownership of one or multiple SAP landscapes (e.g., ECC, S/4 HANA, Business Objects, Information Steward, Data Services, SLT, BI, IBP Cloud, SCM), ensuring efficient planning, provisioning, installation/configuration, maintenance, and operations of the owned system (applications and databases).

Responsibilities

• Plan, provision, install, configure, maintain, and operate applications and databases in the owned SAP landscape.
• Ensure system health and stability 24x7, proactively identifying and avoiding performance bottlenecks.
• Partner with Agile Persistent Teams (APTs) and ARTs globally to gather, assess, and clarify technical requirements from the SAP Platform, map them to system capabilities, convert requirements into technical specifications, and recommend optimal platform solutions for SAP projects.
• Perform proof‑of‑concepts and pilots on upcoming cutting‑edge design projects, document findings and assessments.
• Establish processes for new capabilities and create troubleshooting guides.
• Provide Level 3 on‑call support for SAP Basis and SQL Server databases during India hours.
• Manage periodic planned maintenance downtimes, ensuring smooth execution through proactive planning and preparation.
• Independently perform major software (EHP, Support Pack), hardware (OS/DB), and kernel upgrades on complex landscapes comprising clusters and high‑availability servers and storage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5+ years of SAP Basis Administration experience (implementation & support).
• Knowledge of SAP system architecture, Application Server (AS) ABAP and Application Server (AS) Java.
• Experience with SAP ERP, SCM, CRM, SRM, SAP Solution Manager, MDG, PO/PI/XI, BO/BI, IS/DS, SLT, Fiori, and S/4 HANA solutions.
• Infrastructure security (enabling SNC, SSL) and implementation of Single Sign‑On (SSO).
• Knowledge of SAP Solution Manager.
• Knowledge of communication techniques: RFC, OData via SAP Gateway.
• Windows Server 2016/2019 administration.
• MS SQL Server database administration.
• Knowledge of MS Cluster and High Availability concepts.
• Database administration, optimization, and migration (HANA, MSSQL).
• Software maintenance, monitoring, configuring log/trace files; installing enhancement packs and support packages.
• Understanding of data‑center network and storage fundamentals.
• Fast learner, self‑motivated, ability to influence across organizations, proven collaboration skills, comfortable working with high ambiguity, ability to make quick & informed decisions in crisis situations.
• Ability to work well in cross‑geo teams and with global customers.
• Understanding of running SAP on Azure and AWS (added advantage).
• Knowledge of ITIL Service Management and DevOps tools (ServiceNow, JIRA) – a plus.
• Automation skills using PowerShell, Python, RPA tools, etc. – a significant plus.
• Self‑driven with passion for attention to detail.
