About the role

The Sanitation Utility Operator will follow Ardent Mills' core values of Trust, Serving, Simplicity, and Safety. This role involves general sanitation duties, including the disassembly, cleaning, sanitation, and reassembly of processing equipment. You must be able to work in various conditions and at different heights, follow detailed instructions, and maintain records. Safety and food safety awareness are critical at all times. Cross-training for assistance in other departments may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor tasks such as vacuuming, brushing, sweeping, scraping, scrubbing, and washing floors, walls, racks, and equipment.
• Clean and sanitize process equipment, including breaking down and reassembling components.
• Complete accurate and detailed paperwork.
• Perform light maintenance activities involving rollstands, filters, sifters, and other processing equipment.
• Adhere to all safety rules and maintain awareness of personal safety and the safety of others.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Moderate level of mechanical skills.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of performing physical labor, including standing, walking, bending, and working on both dry and wet surfaces for extended periods.
• Good work ethic with high personal standards for cleanliness.
• Alert and willing to learn a variety of cleaning tasks.
• Flexibility regarding work hours and occasional involvement on different shifts.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection, and respirators (including N-95 dust masks). Must be clean-shaven where respiratory protection is required.
• Work in a plant atmosphere with conditions including heat/cold, indoor/outdoor environments, dust, noise, and frequent moving or vibrating equipment.
• Ability to work in elevated places, including climbing stairs and ladders.
• Must pass a physical abilities test, including frequent standing, walking, rotating, bending, stooping, twisting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching at various levels.
• Occasionally lift up to 55 pounds and pull a maximum force of 210 ft./lbs.
• Work a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in a 24/7 continuous process environment.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00 per hour. Additional earning potential is available based on experience. Eligible team members may also participate in an annual bonus program with a target of 5% of base pay, based on company performance and individual contributions.

Schedule

This is a full-time position based at the Ardent Mills production facility in Wichita, KS. Work schedules may vary based on business and operational needs and could include shift work, overtime, weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities.
