Sanitation Technician I
About the role
The Sanitation Associate position is located in Indianapolis, Indiana and operates a 10pm-6:30am shift, Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities
- Cleans lint, dust, oil, and grease from machines, overhead pipes, conveyors, and other processing and manufacturing equipment using water, chemicals, and compressed air.
- Cleans screens, drains, and filters.
- Scrubs the exterior of processing tanks.
- Cleans and scrubs floors in the plant.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
- Operates industrial truck to transport materials within plant.
- Starts pumps to force cleaning solution through production machinery and piping.
- Performs CIPs (Clean in Place) on various processing equipment.
- Operates Floor Scrubber, Baler, Foamer, Pressure Washer, and other equipment in the normal course of completing duties.
- Maintain a clean work area.
Requirements
No supervisory responsibilities. No travel involved.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 6 months’ work experience in sanitation or similar field.
- Forklift certification required.

Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to talk or hear, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, push, and pull. The employee is regularly required to climb up and down stairs and perform repetitive motions. The employee is frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, squat, and crawl. The employee must regular push, pull, and/or lift 10 pounds, frequently push, pull, and/or lift 30 pounds, and occasionally push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operating machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
