About the Role

Follows standard operating procedures to perform cleaning on production equipment to ensure safety and hygiene. May record information to reflect sanitation activities and issues. Advises/updates supervisor/manager of progress and/or other non-routine issues.

Responsibilities

  • Follows established procedures in the cleaning and sanitation of idle production equipment.
  • Wet washes rooms and production lines.
  • Completes required reporting to reflect activity.
  • Advises supervisor when supplies need to be ordered.

Requirements

  • Must be capable of being productive across all shifts including weekends.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and occasionally required to sit, walk, stoop, or crouch.
  • Must be able to ascend or descend stairs in multi-level facilities.
  • May occasionally move up to 50-75 pounds with a hoist, pallet-jack, or cart, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be trained and certified to use a scissor lift to perform cleaning tasks at heights of up to 20 feet above the plant floor with appropriate fall protection.
  • Must be trained and certified to perform Lock Out/Tag Out protocols on production equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail are critical skills for this position.
  • Able to communicate and take direction from the Sanitation Group Lead and/or the Sanitation Supervisor.

Work Environment

  • Multi-shift production operations may be expansive, noisy, wet/humid, and vary in temperature from refrigerated environments, ambient, or warm in summer months depending on the facility.
  • Perform work in areas which have strong food smells.
