Sanitation Technician - Day

About the Role

As a Sanitation Technician, you are an integral part of the Sanitation team and will play a key role in helping to keep the facility clean and sanitary to deliver the highest quality products for our customers. This position reports to the Sanitation Manager.

Responsibilities

• At shift exchange, communicate with incoming employees all details including finished and unfinished work, any problems, missing tools, safety issues, or any other relevant or helpful information.
• Read MSDS for all grades of chemicals and know safety procedures for spills, accidental mixtures, and physical exposure.
• Complete training and prove competency within 30 days.
• Collect and empty trash from various areas and departments throughout the facility and place it in designated removal areas.
• Become forklift certified within 30 days.
• Distribute all PPE (gloves, hair nets, floor mats) to designated locations.
• Improve the cleanliness of the plant overall, including all office areas, production areas, outside structures, and other areas affecting production or product.
• Physically wash all trash containers and white barrels as needed.
• Check the washroom for all work that needs to be done (e.g., dirty bins, tools).
• Follow all chemical training and safety programs; provide input for procedures as needed.
• Attend daily training and complete all necessary assignments nightly, weekly, and monthly as assigned.
• Complete the “TAKEDOWN” process and promote teamwork.
• Work within sanitary guidelines to ensure food safety.
• Clean all machines inside the extruder room, floor areas, overheads, walkways, and shelving; complete any assigned projects for the extruder room.
• Maintain logs of all completed tasks (daily, weekend, and monthly cleaning logs) and place them in designated areas.
• Complete walkthroughs with the supervisor to meet weekly cleanliness standards.
• Implement and apply Lean concepts to all work-related activities.
• Fill out all necessary paperwork before going home.
• Perform titration of chemicals and file data on the C-118 Chemical Titration Log.
• Understand how to handle chemicals safely and calculate manual concentrations if dispensers are not working.
• Perform a pre-operation (pre-op) in the absence of the Sanitation lead or manager.
• Understand SQF requirements and complete all requested special projects.
• Be available to work weekends as needed.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 55 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand, bend, squat, and perform physical tasks consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions in English.
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude.
• Must adhere to scheduled work hours and maintain proper hygiene.
