As a Sanitation Technician, you are an integral part of the Sanitation team and will play a key role in helping to keep the facility clean and sanitary in order to help us deliver the highest quality products for our customers. This position reports to the Sanitation Manager.
Responsibilities
- At shift exchange, communicate with incoming employees all details including finished and unfinished work, any problems, missing tools, safety issues, or any other relevant or helpful information
- Be able to lift a minimum of 55 LBS
- Read MSDS for all grades of chemicals
- Know safety procedures for spills, accidental mixtures, and physical exposure
- Complete training within 30 days and be competent within that time
- Know general sanitation procedures and prove competency within 30 days
- Collect and empty trash from various areas and departments throughout the facility and setting it in areas designated for removal
- Be forklift certified within 30 days
- Distribute all PPE’s to designated locations, including gloves, hair nets, floor mats
- Improve the cleanliness of the plant overall, including all office areas and production areas, outside structures, and other areas as they affect production or product
- Physically wash all trash containers and white barrels as needed
- Check the washroom for all work that needs to be done (e.g., dirty bins, tools)
- Follow all chemical training and safety programs and make inputs for procedures as needed
- Attend daily training
- Complete all necessary assignments nightly, weekly, and monthly as assigned under the calendar, by supervisor, or QA program
- Complete “TAKEDOWN” process
- Promote teamwork
- Work within sanitary guidelines to keep all food produced compliant
- Clean all machines inside the extruder room, all floor areas inside the extruder room, all overheads, walkways, and shelving in the extruder room, and any assigned projects for the extruder room
- Keep logs of all completed tasks including daily, weekend, and monthly cleaning logs, and place them in designated areas when complete
- Complete walkthrough with the supervisor to assess levels of clean needed weekly
- Implement and apply Lean concepts to all work-related activities
- Capable of performing manager’s responsibilities through training
- Fill out all necessary paperwork before going home
- Responsible for food safety
- Titration of chemicals used and file the data on C-118 Chemical Titration Log
- Understand how to handle chemicals in a safe way
- Understand the minimum SQF requirements
- Perform a pre-operation (pre-op) in the absence of the Sanitation lead or manager
- Understand how to calculate manual concentrations of chemicals used in case the dispensers are broken or not working properly
- Complete all requested special projects
- Follow all chemical training and safety programs and make inputs for procedures as needed
- Additional duties may be assigned and/or required
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to adhere to scheduled work hours
- Maintain proper hygiene
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions in English
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 55 pounds regularly
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Understand that you need to have an open schedule on the weekend
