Sanitation Technician

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all electrical components (motors, sensors, HMI screens, etc.) are covered properly before cleaning to prevent safety issues and damage to the electrical components
  • Assists in maintaining sanitation programs and equipment programs as needed (e.g. changing rack wheels, changing air socks, replacing filters, wastewater sampling, removing and reinstalling conveyor belts, washing HVAC systems, supporting DAF system (where applicable), and other assigned tasks)
  • Strong ability to use internal software platforms and digital tools to plan and organize work.
  • Cleans and maintains a range of industrial equipment including oiler machines, ovens, conveyor belts, scissor lifts, sky jacks, motors, sanitation equipment, and any assigned tasks in accordance to SSOP’s and Smart Schedule
  • Communicates efficiently and effectively using various forms such as verbal, written, two-way radio, other programs, etc.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with cross functional departments
  • Addresses any issues or emergencies related to the Sanitation department. This may include examples such as equipment issues/failures, water leaks, safety hazards, food safety issues, etc.
  • Supports during product changeovers through the production week
  • Always follows and enforces GMP’S and Food Safety practices and policies
  • Ensures all chemicals are handled properly according to FGF policies and the chemical supplier’s specifications
  • Follows all Health & Safety policies and practices (PPE, best practices, safety requirements, etc.)
  • Ensures to address any pest issues to fullest capability including cleaning and reporting

Required Skills & Experience

  • Meets requirements for their current role as outlined in “Sanitation Skill/Training Requirements Matrix”
  • Meets requirements for the Sanitation Technician I role as outlined in “Sanitation Skill/Training Requirements Matrix”
  • Minimum 6 months experience working in the sanitation industry in a food manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable)
  • Scissor Lift license required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the role
  • Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a sanitation issue
  • Familiar with internal audits and BRC audits
  • Working knowledge of GMP's, OSHA is required
  • Post-secondary education an asset
