Sanitation Technician (1st Shift)

About the role

This key position provides GNC with a solid structural teammate who has complete knowledge of leading and detailed cleaning. Sanitation experience is required. The selected employee will receive thorough training in the Standard Sanitation Operational Procedure (SSOP).

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
• Provide clear direction in the Wash Down Rooms.
• Identify equipment/electrical components that need to be covered during cleaning.
• Use and provide proper color-coded tools for the job.
• Report food safety and quality problems to authorized personnel.
• Knowledge of equipment requiring detailed cleaning, disassembly, and cleaning (especially in food contact areas) to prevent mold and bacterial buildup.
• Apply correct chemical dilution ratios (training in chemical safety provided).
• Document tasks using the Master Sanitation Schedule and provide signatures for verification.
• Ensure all sanitation materials, tools, and chemicals are properly stored or disposed of after use.
• Report to work on time, including overtime and weekend work when necessary.
• Cover for other Sanitation Technicians in their absence.
• Perform regular sanitation and custodial duties as assigned by the Sanitation Department Lead.

Direct report: Sanitation Lead.

Requirements

• Bilingual (English and Spanish).
• Ability to cross-train and log/record sanitation activities accurately.
• Janitorial and sanitation knowledge.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email) are a plus.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

• Standing on a concrete floor for extended periods.
• Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform).
• Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Required to work weekends during peak season and mandatory overtime when needed.
