About the role

The Sanitation Technician reports to the Processing Supervisor and is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing egg processing equipment on a daily basis following the processing shift.

Schedule: alternating 3-day and 4-day workweeks on a continuous rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble processing equipment daily
  • Work with chemicals, high-pressure cleaning equipment, manual scrubbing tools, hoses, and simple mechanical tools
  • Maintain training on correct use of equipment, chemicals, and their MSDSs
  • Review sanitation chemicals with the supervisor, including use, mixing, and appropriateness
  • Responsible for record keeping and paperwork
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Maintain equipment and keep in good repair
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous food plant sanitation experience is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with GMPs or equivalent practices is highly desirable
  • Training for egg-specific equipment will be provided
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness and ability to learn several associated jobs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of sanitation methods, chemical handling, and use
  • Knowledge of process control systems and food safety principles
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is highly desirable

Physical Demands

  • Stand and walk constantly
  • Frequent gripping, grasping, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and stooping
  • Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds
  • Occasional climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional sitting

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, water, and chemicals
  • Temperature is regulated for operational standards; cooler temperatures in specific areas
  • Moderate noise level
  • Proper personal protective equipment required for certain conditions
  • Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) required (e.g., hairnets, clean clothes)
