Maintenance Tech

About the Role

Level three mechanics work under minimal supervision to perform advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance on CNC/NC machines, production equipment, and facility systems. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) in both mechanical and electrical disciplines, requiring 6–10+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment. Must be a U.S. person to qualify for this position.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair NC/CNC machine issues, including turret/spindle alignment and ball screw replacement
• Troubleshoot and repair lubrication systems, hydraulics, bar feeders, and controls
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and full equipment overhauls
• Maintain furnaces, presses, cranes, forging equipment, and blast systems
• Repair refractory linings and assist with specialized furnace components
• Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems on all plant equipment, including:
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits (24V–480V, single & three-phase)
  • Use testing equipment to diagnose voltage, load, grounding, and faults
  • Rewire and modify circuits
  • Install and commission new machinery and equipment (mechanical and electrical)
  • Install conduit (EMT and rigid), wiring, and mechanical components
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety compliance
• Diagnose issues using sound, vibration, and performance data
• Test equipment post-repair to ensure proper operation
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to prevent failures
• Maintain logs and documentation of equipment status and repairs
• Communicate with production teams to resolve issues
• Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians
• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
• Perform general facility repairs
• Support contractors during installations and major repairs

Requirements

• 6–10+ years of industrial maintenance experience
• Associate degree or technical training preferred; equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience accepted
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in an industrial/manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Proficiency using electrical test equipment (voltmeters, amp meters, etc.)
• Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers)
• Familiarity with welding, cutting, fabrication, alignment, and diagnostic tools
• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues independently
• Strong math skills, including algebra, geometry, and measurements
• U.S. person status (required for ITAR compliance)

Preferred Qualifications

• Multi-skilled in both mechanical and electrical maintenance
• Experience in heavy manufacturing, forging, or aerospace
• Background working with furnaces, presses, cranes, or forging equipment

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
