Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule and direct sanitation workers to meet sanitation schedules.
- Train and monitor employee compliance with SOPs, GMPs, safety rules, equipment use.
- Audit sanitation and CIP/COP processes for compliance with company SOPs, federal and state regulations.
- Maintain Master Sanitation Schedules for plant and warehouse facilities, interior/exterior.
- Ensure superior documentation of sanitation of production plant, equipment and surrounding areas.
- Ensure plant is audit ready at all times and provide support during audits.
- Complete record keeping items such as: identifying cleaning cycle times on charts, measuring cleaning concentrations, flow rates, assessing heat up temperatures and chemical sanitizing, etc.
- Maintain required inspection reports and record steps taken to resolve any deficiencies.
- Work in conjunction with the QA Director in maintaining practices that assure product quality and safety, and to identify, analyze, and resolve sanitation related issues.
- Continuously verify/validate sanitation effectiveness and propose better ways to clean and sanitize, maximizing results and minimizing costs.
- Recommend measures to continuously improve methods, equipment performance, and purity of products.
- Inspect all locations for unsanitary conditions or practices and take swift corrective action.
- Oversee performance and maintenance of chemical systems.
- Seek to continuously improve chemical conservation while consistently meeting and/or exceeding quality requirements.
- Maintain contact with chemical supplier, address and coordinate service needs with management.
- Monitor water consumption and utilities seeking to optimize usage, address and communicate existing or potential issues promptly.
- Maintain appropriate pest control and keep records of all related activities.
Qualifications
- Five years related, progressive sanitation experience with commercial dairy/food production/processing equipment and CIP, or equivalent combination of education, training, and manufacturing experience may be considered.
- Solid understanding of food safety principles, chemical safety, CIP/COP, QA, SQF, HAACP, GMPs, regulatory compliance (OSHA, FDA, USDA, EPA), and sanitation operations.
- BS degree in Food Science, Sanitation with Chemicals Standards, or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience supervising workers
- English required, bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Able to perform math functions which include ratios and weights and measures, etc.
- Proficient use of Excel and able to learn in house programs using a computer and keypad.
