Sanitation Supervisor, 3rd Shift
About the Role
The Plant Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for implementing the Sanitation program and ensuring all current Food Safety Standards are met throughout the site. This role involves training and developing sanitation employees to identify and control GMP issues and enforce food safety standards. The supervisor will communicate sanitation issues clearly with the Sanitation Manager, Plant Manager, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Sanitation program (HACCP, Allergen, etc.) in compliance with customer and government regulations.
- Assist with consumer complaint issues and lead plant teams to minimize complaints.
- Develop Sanitation procedures and related paperwork.
- Maintain a strong working relationship with the Plant Manager and Quality/Sanitation Manager.
- Work with the Sanitation Team to identify sanitation or regulation issues at the facility.
- Ensure the facility is ready for Third Party or Customer inspections.
- Assist with policies, procedures, and paperwork to meet Company and Customer standards.
- Foster an atmosphere for the development of supervisors and managers.
- Manage the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Lead Continuous Improvement of facility sanitation.
- Assist with the control and maintenance of the Sanitation budget.
- Supervise Sanitation chemical suppliers.
- Manage Sanitation staff.
- Work with the Product Safety Auditor to identify and correct sanitation or environmental issues.
- Ensure all chemicals used in the plant are approved and have current MSDS information on site.
- Conduct dilution testing of all chemicals needing diluted.
- Develop and train all steps of each plant clean-up.
- Oversee the pest control program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Sanitation Manager.
- Fill in for the Sanitation Manager during their absence.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Master Sanitation Plan and legal requirements for the food industry, including GMPs.
- Knowledge of FDA and MDA requirements.
- Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, Allergens, and SQF/BRC.
- Understanding of the 10 principles of sanitary equipment design.
- Good understanding of commercial bakeries, bakery equipment, and ingredient functionality in relation to insect development.
- Demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining programs and handling conflicts with a positive attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy, self-motivation, and sound business decision-making.
- Strong motivational and people skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound business decisions.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ERP; SAP experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Sanitation or a combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in the food industry, with at least 3 years as a Sanitation Supervisor in a food manufacturing environment.
Schedule
Core schedule: Wednesday–Sunday, 10:00 PM–6:00 AM EST.
Pay
The pay range for this full-time, salaried position is $66,813 – $100,219 per year. Individual base pay depends on work location, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on company and individual performance.
Work Environment
Work is primarily done in an office setting. Infrequent exposure to the production environment includes noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and temperature fluctuations.
