About the role

McKee Foods is seeking a Sanitation Specialist to join our Environmental Sanitation Department team. The ESD (Environmental Service Department) Technician Specialist's job function is to clean in any area assigned by the Master Sanitation System (MSS) and work in areas that the supervisor may assign. The job includes tasks that assist in the control of microbiology, bacteria, and mold growth in and around the equipment and other areas of our manufacturing facilities. The ESD Technician Specialist should know all tasks and will provide training to new employees on cleaning procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate and work in all areas, cleaning equipment with high-pressure systems and operating high pressure washing equipment
  • Clean and sanitize the specified equipment listed on the MSS
  • Know what parts and equipment will be needed in order to operate all the various lines during changeovers at their facilities
  • Work in high temperatures (ovens) and low temperatures (cold room)
  • Work with chemicals and substantial amounts of water
  • Lift heavy items ranging from 20-50 pounds
  • Work at heights up to 40 feet
  • Follow proper safety procedures at all times
  • Wear approved clothing while in specified plant areas, including hairnets, slip-resistant steel-toed safety shoes, gloves and hearing protection
  • Adhere to restrictions on jewelry, nail polish, and artificial nails in food production facilities
  • Attend specialized training to prepare for certain tasks

  • Capability to handle physically demanding work in varying climates and working conditions (extreme heights, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, poor weather, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Lift Truck Operator license
  • DMV Record must be obtained by the Safety Department
  • Lift Truck vision screen must be completed by Employee Health Services and must meet Lift Truck standards

Preferred qualifications

  • Food processing or food manufacturing experience
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and industry standard cleaning and sanitation procedures
  • Basic knowledge of the function and operation of sanitation equipment
  • Training and/or experience in operating lift equipment
  • Training and/or experience with high pressure water systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an LTO (Lift Truck Operator) license (includes a good driving record and meeting vision requirements to drive a lift truck at McKee Foods)
  • Related training; including blood borne pathogens, confined space, lock out systems, dust hazard, chemical management, etc.

Pay

$23.88 - $25.10 / hour (base rate), depending on experience and qualifications. Eligible hours worked can pay up to 27% above base rate, based on schedule. Premium eligibility and pay details are reviewed during the interview process.

Schedule

Weekend Shift: Thursday 12 hours, 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. (30-minute clock-out lunch); Friday 12 hours, 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. (summer schedule) (30-minute clock-out lunch); Saturday night, 12 hours, 10:00 p.m. - 10:30 a.m. (hours vary with sundown) (30-minute clock-out lunch).
