SANITATION/MAINTENANCE TECH 3RD SHIFT

Caribbean Food Delights (CFD), a privately owned company in Tappan, Rockland County, NY, is the leading manufacturer of Jamaican-style patties (beef, chicken, and vegetable) in a state-of-the-art, SQF-certified facility.

About the role

We are looking for a Sanitation and Maintenance Technician to work overnight, assisting in overseeing the Sanitation Team and CFD personnel to ensure the timely handover of the facility to Production for daily start-up activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper equipment sanitation and efficient start-ups and shutdowns through an understanding of the manufacturing process and equipment/parts design.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with the safety program, including lock out/tag out, chemical safety, chemical SDS, and adherence to required PPEs.
• Inspect facility and equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards; document and report non-conformities to QC/Maintenance.
• Prepare and handle CIP chemicals and equipment.
• Ensure all areas of the plant are properly sanitized and in good repair.
• Actively participate in food safety, plant audits, and third-party audits.
• Lubricate machinery according to the maintenance schedule to ensure timely start-up.
• Provide pest control support, working with the pest control provider to ensure corrective actions are closed out in a timely manner.
• Monitor boiler operation and perform minor repairs.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some equipment maintenance/technical ability.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience.
• Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SOP, Pest Control Programs, USDA, and FDA regulations.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements

Frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, frequent verbal communication, prolonged standing; ability to operate food production equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

Pay

$23 - $24.00 per hour, plus benefits.
