About the role
Trident Seafoods is North America's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. The Sanitation Lead ensures the processing facility remains clean and sanitary for production, working in a leadership capacity to oversee the sanitation team.
Responsibilities
- Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions.
- Directs the sanitation crew on which equipment or area to clean and the methods to use.
- Coordinates with maintenance personnel and other sanitation crews to dismantle production lines and equipment for cleaning.
- Disassembles and reassembles production lines and equipment as necessary for cleaning.
- Cleans floors, removing debris and rinsing thoroughly.
- Cleans air lines and hoses that feed the production lines.
- Sanitizes production equipment in preparation for maintenance and production set-up crews.
- Cleans chemical room, process floor, dry goods area, restrooms, and other work areas.
- Cleans wash buckets, trash cans, handrails, and other assigned equipment.
- Generates daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation reports according to the Sanitation Master Plan and routes them to designated personnel and vendors.
- Coordinates with Quality Assurance on preoperational inspections.
- Prepares and titrates chemicals needed for cleaning production lines.
- Monitors sanitation PPE daily.
- Confers with management and production personnel on sanitation problems and recommends improvements in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices.
- Compiles reports on inspections, sanitation violations, pest control, and trends, including steps taken to resolve deficiencies.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Completes required training programs and performs designated work activities in accordance with Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies.
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 months experience in manufacturing sanitation.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in food production sanitation.
- 1 year of experience in a leadership position.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to climb or balance.
- Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- Moves objects regularly: up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds rarely.
- Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
