About the role
Responsible for general cleaning, sanitation, and janitorial duties for the facility, including warehouse and production environments.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize different types of machinery, support equipment, and conveyors.
- Clean and sanitize floors, walls, and specific work areas.
- Perform general warehouse maintenance duties, including cleaning, mopping, and sweeping.
- Prioritize work orders based on departmental needs.
- Adhere to all Food, Sanitation, and Safety policies.
- Handle all produce according to SQF standards.
- Maintain facility cleanliness by picking up trash and debris and addressing sanitation opportunities.
- Collect and dispose of all warehouse and facility trash or debris daily; clean up spills.
- Work with the supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink (product loss).
- Maintain neatness and cleanliness of assigned work areas and travel aisles.
- Report any unfixable or unsafe issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Observe and enforce all safety rules to reduce accidents and injuries.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and orderly.
- Inspect and maintain material handling equipment daily; report repair or service needs.
- Comply with all company policies (e.g., attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Associate Handbook).
- Comply with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (e.g., OSHA, HACCP, AIB).
- Adhere to work schedule.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One-year on-the-job sanitation or maintenance experience required.
- Understanding of general building sanitation and maintenance.
- Experience operating a pallet jack.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must work independently with minimal supervision and have strong attention to detail.
- Certification on material handling equipment or ability to become certified.
Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in simple correspondence and small group settings.
- Basic mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and handle standardized situations with occasional variables.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Usually required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk, and hear.
- Required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move 41–50 pounds; seldom lift and/or move 51–100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Full-time position with a varying schedule, including nights, weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.
- Work hours may vary or change based on departmental requirements.
- Primarily performed in a warehouse environment.
- Regularly exposed to fast-moving material handling equipment or other mechanical equipment.
- Frequently exposed to freezer/cooler warehouse environments.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high or precarious places, vehicle emissions, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, high-voltage electrical equipment, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
