Sanitation Associate

About the role

The Sanitation Associate at Misfits Market plays a crucial part in maintaining a clean and safe environment for both our team and customers. This position ensures that all areas of the facility are kept in a sanitary condition, adhering to company policies and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures, including food safety rules, safe handling of materials, and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
• Perform sanitation- and hygiene-related duties as assigned by Maintenance Tech using approved cleaning procedures and practices.
• Monitor chemical dilution of detergents and food contact sanitizers.
• Proactively assess and address hazards in the facility such as puddles, unclean food surfaces, and waste build-up. Escalate any sanitation issues to the Maintenance Tech.
• Prepare and log donations for our donation partners.
• Absorb and dispose of damaged items.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized warehouse environment, including proper storage of products and adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain sanitation inventory levels, partnering with the Maintenance Tech for reorders.
• May use computers or tablets for record-keeping, communication, and training.
• Support Operations with different duties as needed.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have experience in a food distribution, manufacturing, or warehouse environment. Comfortable working in a refrigerated environment is essential. You should be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude under pressure.

Qualifications

• Able to work in cold temperatures in a refrigerated environment.
• Ability to walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, and kneel.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• Sedentary work; involves sitting some of the time.
• Standing desks and/or other ergonomic accommodation is available upon request.
• Regular work with computers, including keyboards, mouses, and screens.
• Regular use of mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets.

Skills

Strong interpersonal communication skills are required to interact effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Proficiency with computers and tablets is also important for record-keeping and training purposes.
