Sanitation Assistant Manager
About the role
This 2nd shift position will support and oversee the work of the Sanitation Team by actively participating on the floor. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Supervisor will ensure the department is running smoothly and in a safe, productive manner; will plan and oversee daily cleaning of equipment, facility areas, and production lines while managing 2nd shift activities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the nightly work of the plant’s sanitation team, including assigning tasks and providing guidance as needed on proper cleaning procedures while maintaining safety protocols and use of equipment and chemicals.
- Implement/adhere to SSOPs, track all sanitation activities; provide training as needed to new hires and team; validate and verify knowledge by maintaining Job Task Checklists for current and new employees.
- Responsible for maintaining the Master Sanitation Schedule and compliance with the requirements of GMPSs, HACCP, Allergan and Food Safety Programs.
- Conduct regular scheduled inspections, internal audits, and testing to verify the effectiveness of sanitation procedures; maintains accurate records of procedures and inspections.
- Ensures proper use, storage, dilution and handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Work with other departments in a collaborative manner to ensure a clean and safe work environment; will work closely with Production and Quality to investigate and address sanitation issues such as preoperational set-up failures and cleanliness issues, applying corrective actions that will improve timely and efficient production start-up.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to ensure efficient cleaning, set up, and operation.
- Develop sanitation procedures and/or update as needed on new or existing equipment.
- Participate in weekly manufacturing Team Lead and Management Team meetings.
Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of five years’ manufacturing experience, preferably in a food environment. Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience, with a strong attention to detail to ensure the effective operation and cleanliness of equipment and facility.
- Knowledge: OSHA, Food Safety, FDA, and USDA. Knowledge of ISO and certifications within the food industry. Proficient use of a computer and systems (Microsoft Word and Excel).
